Doubt a boiler engineer (nevermind a bricklayer) takes considerably more effort. They're just very scarce.

Not so happy with my workOriginally posted by AlfredJPruffock View PostWell not bad for what are in essence Glorified File Clerks or as Fleet would describe "Hookers with Keyboards" As for moi - I don't care as I have transcended that horrid business of "work" - are you happy at your "work" ?
but very happy with the loot
Not so happy with where the loot goes
but very happy with the beer and pub lunches the loot buys
Not so happy with the beer belly

Twice Suitys rate. Impressive.Originally posted by FatLazyContractor View PostDo you know anything about construction in Dubai ?
They are cheap labour from India/Pakistan/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka who get less than £20 a day

I know, I just like to boast now and then.Originally posted by SimonMac View PostThat's why it says average, it will also mean that some people are on less than that

Although, I would be surprised if the rates I was on were that much above average considering it seemed to be the low end of the London offerings. The other gig I nearly got (got as far as the verbal offer) was £650 a day, although that seemed to be the top end of what I could realistically go for with my background at the time.

Unless you order it by day rate in which case you are #1 from the bottom...Originally posted by MrWebDev View PostThis has just been posted up on the CUK site; what do we think?

As you can probably tell by my name I'm #1 on that list,

The dev one is £80 per day less than I was getting in my last gig in Fleet and £130 less than I was getting the gig before that in London.

I realise the list is in no particular order, I was just pointing out that I am a Web Developer which happens to be in the first position.Originally posted by SimonMac View PostLets hope your coding is better than your reading!
As for Bricklayers, I know a few, and they're on more like £250 a day. As for Bricklayers in Dubai, Qatar etc, yes many of them are on a pittance and have little training.
I thought that the list was interesting, that's all. I also wondered if many of you on here feel that the rates given are about right, or wildly off what they should be?

As you can probably tell by my name I'm #1 on that list, I'd say that rate is about right, though I know depending on skillset (notably JavaScript libraries e.g. Angular) you can go another £100 or so higher.Lets hope your coding is better than your reading! They are listed in no particular order.

But require considerably less effort.Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostSo the hottest IT skills pay about the same as a self employed boiler engineer or brick layer.
Whoopie do!
There are also a few roles missing off that list that pay more. Most of them involve the word Architect.
