I got asked for proof of identity at the address my girlfriend rental whilst looking for our new home, this was after explaining I only visited there at weekends I was living 300 miles away
I had to change my drivers license to her rental address, and move a storecard to that address to keep them happy
It's a tick box culture over and above any sane sense of staying within the law, that seems to come secondary even with Solicitors
