Not true about Dictaphones AKA voice recorders. Modern ones are much smaller and more convenient than the smallest mobile phones.

Yeah. Plus you don't have to unlock the phone, launch the dictaphone app each time... just press a button.

My parents had the one second from right in their bedroom. Used to put instand coffe and powdered milk in the teapot and wake up to perfect cafe latte in the morning. It was probably a late '60's design, but had a stange art deco stile.

Last floppy used was - ah yes, that would be the floppy that came with a hard disk circa 2004. Bloody Windows refused to copy it because it contained DR-DOS and as a result I never got the drive working. The git Gates owes me good money for that disk drive.

I think he owes a lot of people money...

I believe OS/2 is destined to be the most important operating system, and possibly program, of all time.

I spent ******* years working with that OS only to see him drop it like a Guinness and curry filled belly....

Netbooks - a neighbour had one which she used for surfing in the pub and I was impressed enough with it to want one. It was an ASUS I think and you could run server software on it. Not made any more, apparently.

Fax machine - last fax machine expired a day after its warranty ran out. Having seen the line of OTT cars outside the place it came from I wondered if they had programmed it to do that. Won the court case about the service contract they forced me into to get an economic repair. I sold it sharpish and didn't bother with another.

Calculators - haven't got one. If I were still doing accounting packages I'd be after a good desk calculator with a till roll, like the one I used to have (much got sold off cheap when I emigrated).

CRT tellies - still got a Sony Trinitron which when last aired was going strong. Expecting them to cut off anaiogue broadcasting before it packs up, but I haven't used it for a couple of years now.

Cameras - got shut of my SLR in the cash-strapped early 90s and have done with pocket sized point and shoot jobbies since then. Might treat myself to a DSLR this summer.

It must be nearly 30 years since I rented any videos.

Have an early iPod somewhere. The last time I used it was to catch up on some Radio 4 programme or other.

Alarm clocks. Got well and truly chucked off with the digital thing that works from a radio signal when it lost said signal and woke me up at something like 3 am. Got a battery powered one with a proper pair of bells on top that works fine. Darmstadt's point about the ticking noise noted, but I've got used to mine.

Satnav - never had it and therefore don't miss it.

Alarm clocks - I have a bedside clock that's also a charging station for my landline DECT phone (which I expected to be on the list)
Calculators - Use one at home pretty often, the mid 20's accountant at this client uses one all the time to check stuff.
Video rentals - No idea when I used one, not sure of the last time I saw one
Fax machines - A function built into my printer/scanner thing last used a year or so back for a contract "wet" signature.
Voice recorders - Never used one, but I know a solicitor who uses one for notes, keeps it separate from his phone.
Netbooks - Use one every day I'm away from home as a Slingbox client host and occasional browsing. Small, ok battery life, reasonably rugged and expendable. Have used it as a proper PC on a few occasions when I needed to.
Satnav - Use one all the time more practical than phone for the task and it stays in the car.
CRT television sets - I still use one as my main TV at home as it has superb sound and a nice clear screen, I will retire it when it busts or I find a feature on a flat screeny one that I want enough to buy it.
Floppy discs - Can't recall the last time I used.
MP3 players - Never much used one, my sons who did all use their phones now.
Film - Can't recall the last time I used

Alarm clocks - the trouble I have with clockwork alarm clocks is that I can hear the bloody ticking while trying to get to sleep so my Big Ben got consigned to the cellar. I now have a digital one in a big rubber case which still works even after throwing it across the room
Calculators - been using one this week to do my mileage book
Video rentals - sadly our local one shut down a couple of years ago. I used enjoy going in there, mainly to look at the covers of weird Italian horror porn movies
Fax machines - still got and use
Voice recorders - never had nor used one
Netbooks - got one for Frau D. but seems to have been put somewhere in my office where I can't find it. I thought they were a reasonably good idea at the time but the keyboard was just too small and in the end, unusable for anything such as writing documents
Satnav - the one in my car is pretty damn good. Apart from the traffic stuff I can surf the web, FB, tweet, stream music and a bunch of other stuff (even shows how much BHP I'm using at the time!)
CRT television sets - one in the cellar as a backup
Floppy discs - still use although had to buy a USB floppy drive. OS/2 and BeOS get installed now and then!
MP3 players - iPod in the car (although the Satnav has a built-in 20gb hard drive for music) or on holiday
Film - on holiday we buy those disposable cameras just for fun
Our brains - nope, not seen in a long time...redundant presumably

I think they need to go back another 15-20 years as many of these items are still very current...the bloke who wrote it seems a bit younger and so probably never came to use or rely on these things
