I thought the blackcurrant would complement the lemon well, and it did, but it was a bit too sweet and sticky for my tastes. I only happened to have vodka/triple-sec ready-mixed as we were out of vodka, and probably 1 part cassis was too much.

Not awful though. And quite pretty.

Try summat with raspberry in it, it works well with lemon.

If you want a recipe for martinis, you can check out my blog. Use the recipe I gave for a Rhutini and use raspberry liquer.

Creme de cassis is pretty heavy duty so you only need a teaspoon of it when making a drink, otherwise you won't taste anything at all.

Check out this website too, very useful - Diffords guide

    Try an EO sherbert-jelly

this works well with most things sweet, although I havn't tried sherbert yet.

get some jelatine cubes from tescos or wherever.

heat water, make jelly. Add 1/4 bottle of jack daniels, place in jelly bowls or ice cube trays.

serve with custard, cream, or sherbert.

The first thing you get is jelly. then a slight buzz. then the jd comes through.

9 posts without any mention of rimming? I dunno what this place is coming to. Has TestMangler got himself a contract or summat?

I'm not a fan of alcoholic cocktails myself.

My favourite non-alcoholic cocktail on a hot day would be a cucumber cooler.

Works best with a good gin (Hendricks or Edinburgh) and a good light marmalade.

    Dammit, thirsty now.

Sounds nice (I can imagine the marmalade working) but a whole lemon per cocktail? Sounds a lot.
