Or rather, that you lefties falsely accuse the Mail of saying that. Of course it doesn't and never has. Even if immigrant only means foreign born the figures should be under 1 in 8. Actually the story is about "foreigners" which presumably does not include those who now have British citizenship and the figure should be even smaller. And the effects of previous immigration waves, 2nd and 3rd generations, must always be discounted because they are British citizens. How very convenient.

Lefties : Immigrants are wonderful, much harder working and law abiding than the British.
Righties: But, if you look at the statistics, some ethnic groups that immigration has given us since 1950 are up to 7 times more likely to be in prison than the white British!
Lefties: But they are not immigrants, they are British! What we need is more hard working migrants like them.

Lefties (in 50 years time): ....

And so it goes on. Learn from our mistakes? Fat chance.
