My current gig is six weeks. It's perfectly serious, in that it's something the client needs and it'll take about that much time to do.

Over the last fifteen years of contracting I've had gigs that have lasted a few weeks, and ones that have lasted a couple of years. None of it seems to make any difference in terms of getting further gigs.

Leave the heavy lifting to the men.

Nothing serious can be built in 3 months. That is not to say nothing can be built in 3 months. I'm saying, nothing of reasonable complexity in a bank can be built in 3 months.

Your CV implies baby tasks linking other systems (that the men are working on.) This is mechanical grunt work. Drag and drop.

People not understanding short term contracts don't understand contracting imo.

There's a woman at our place (contractor PM) who said she wouldn't look at a developer's CV if they didn't stay in a role for at least 12 months - I gave her a right mouthful and told her to get out of contracting if that was the depth of her knowledge.

Not great if you're a permie. As a contractor / freelancer, it says nothing. Demand is a good thing.

For some types of role maybe. Said similar on another thread yesterday.

If I was hiring a developer or PM, I wouldn't be too interested in someone with lots of really short contracts - definite red flag for me.
