If you are British and not resident in Scotland, you pay. If you are any nationality and resident in Scotland, you don't pay. If you are an EU or Swiss citizen you don't pay regardless of your residency.

Scottish students who are not resident in Scotland pay.

Been going on for ages, every time there's a state or national election and new transport ministers are appointed they bring it up (its a pipe dream of the right). They've been told that they cannot do it without including German drivers as well and there have been numerous concerns over data privacy laws. I thought they did that already as there aren't enough places for Scottish students.

It's a bit stupid though. As in the bigger towns and cities lots of people remain near the university they went to.

When I first dove in Europe it was only France and Italy that charged for motorways. When I last drove to Turkey there were four countries to buy road tax. Austria if one of the most expensive I only need a couple of hours on the motorway. I lived in the Tyrol for three years and I have no wish to go sight seeing.

Good idea. Should be introduced Europe wide. And not just on motorways - on all roads.

    Cash-strapped Germans at it again

Foreign motorists can expect to start paying to drive on German motorways from 2016, the country’s transport minister said on Thursday.
As this is it only foreigners who will pay; the legality is questionable.
