If you are stupid enough to take what he says at face value then you have a point. It is a bit like when he was waving the scottish flag at Wimbledon when Murray was playing. "Oh he is only supporting Scotland and Andy Murray" when in actual fact it was part of the manipulation process for Scottish independence.


However he spins it he is trying to sneakily manipulate people into likening the independence movement to the overthrow of Apartheid. He wants to make people think (on some level) that it is a fight between the oppressed and the downtrodden.

Unfortunately it backfired on him

A very long time ago, Salmond tried to make political mileage out of a fishing boat sinking with all hands^*; he claimed that it was Westminster that was preventing the raising of the vessel in order to conduct a full investigation... At the time, no one else would have suggested trying to raise a sunken boat. The man's an utter ****... Or *political opportunist* if one wants to be kind.
