Work I work, we occasionally have to set our primary keys. Could admin just update it to 999,999 and then claim a million threads?

In theory that's possible, but as it's MySQL it would probably go horribly wrong in unspecified ways

I don't recall ever checking what happens to a deleted thread, but the database won't reuse values in a Primary Key Autoincrement field, so the value will keep going up regardless of whether the data is actually deleted or just flagged as hidden

In fact, the thread count thing is complicated by stuff like deleted threads, and the fact that there were a small number of trial threads made back when the forum moved to vBulletin (in 2005, was it?), so the home page says there are currently 96,485 threads.

But the thread IDs have reached 100,000 and that's all that matters at this stage
