They'll probably want you to go through the other agency, these no poach agreements will exist for the duration of the assignment.
Actually I see the bank is at fault here, they had your CV obviously turned it down at the time and are now changing their minds, for whatever reason, sounds like a cock up.
Don't worry about it just go to the interview, the agency realises you're not at fault here, and I doubt they'll make any difficulties.

Off topic (but only slightly), who keeps a log of roles applied for, CVs sent, phone calls with pimps, etc so they can avoid getting into a similar situation as the OP?
Even if I agree to something I demand a email and if it's not on an email then it doesn't count.
I keep emails and CVs but that's because I don't store everything locally.

Yep. Let the client do your dirty work for you. They will cut a deal with the agencies.Originally posted by Anubis View Postclient themselves (a large bank) have contacted me directly. Meh...I think I'm just going to have to go along for the ride; turn up at the interview and do what the client wants regardless.
Don't speak to either of the agencies without confirmation from the client to tell you who they are going to deal with. When you know, completely blank the other agency because they will just give you a load of bluff and bluster to try and scare you off.
While you area talking with the client, find out what the rate is so the agency doesn't start dicking you around on that too.

I don't keep a log but I certainly don't delete all the mails, CV's that I send to easy to look back and get the details.Originally posted by aoxomoxoa View PostThink of it as an initiation rite - being given a hard time by the resident curmudgeon.

It's the same role that is the key point here. But it was a nice story. Thanks.Originally posted by JRCT View PostIt's only relevant because it's a similar situation, one candidate, one client, two agencies. A bit like your car park story.
Sorry, I didn't realise I shouldn't join in.

Shame you didn't want the role - otherwise you could have taken it through the second agency.Originally posted by Eirikur View PostHad a pimp who said he would forward my cv to the client for a role, I had to send an email I agreed he would represent me for this role and no one else.
Few weeks later second agency called me, same role, said I was put forward by agency 1, agency 2 went away and checked with end client. Came back saying end client didn't have my cv so I sent email to agency 1 to say I withdrew my consent on the basis they hadn't put me forward and agency 2 then put me forward.
This resulted in a tulipstorm agency 1 claiming they had an exclusive deal with end client.
Both agencies calling me several times per day trying to find out things about the other agency. I told them to sort it out themselves and withdrew my application, the role was not really what I wanted anyway, so I couldn't be bothered anymore

Erm, nice story but relevant how?Originally posted by JRCT View PostI recently had interviews for 2 positions for the same department of a bank. Each was through a different agency, but I was interviewed by the same people for both.
The first role was probably a bit too junior for me, but did involve a lot of stuff that I enjoy and am good at.
The second was more of a PM role, which I don't mind a bit of, but I have no interest in a pure PM role.
They liked me and kind of 'created' a role that was a mix of the two. I decided not to go for it as it wasn't paying what I wanted but I would have loved to have sat back and watched the two agencies fight it out.

I had this sort of thing. Agent put me through with a roll at a company and nothing happened, a few weeks later another agency phoned me about a roll and got me an interview. Passed it quite well (the HR girl is a friend of my wife's, which helped).
Got a phone call from the original agency asking what had happened, I explained I did not realise it was the same job. Agent asked whether I said the company name first or did the second agent ... I thought for a bit and remember that I had. The agent said not to worry and he would sort it out.
Both agents fought like wild dogs and threatened legal action, client dropped me as it was not worth the hassle.Last edited by MyUserName; 28 March 2014, 15:32.

Well you are doing better than I did. I got binned by the client while sat in the car park for one of my two interviews that day (one from each agency). At least your client spotted the application. Mine didn't until 10 mins before I was due to go in. 15 min tulip storm and some very angry pimps and then the message that the client couldn't be bothered and cancelled both interviews. Doh....Originally posted by Anubis View PostQuick update:
The client have literally just got into contact with me via email inviting me to the interview. I can see this becoming a storm between the client and pimp by cutting them out.
I don't want to be dragged into awkward situations between them; essentially the recruitment agency getting cut out the deal since the client themselves (a large bank) have contacted me directly.
Meh...I think I'm just going to have to go along for the ride; turn up at the interview and do what the client wants regardless. That's what it boils down to at the end of the day...
You are in a very good position dealing direct with the client so I don't see this as your problem. Go to the interview, see if you get the gig. If you do you will hear from the agent that the client decided to use. The only re-course to the other agency is to moan like stink to the client... which if he/she has a hole in their arse they won't.
Ride the wave and see where it takes you. I don't really see a problem here.
