I would rather lose a weeks money than a months money, i always ask for weekly pay, I invoice every week or if they want to do self billing as long as they send me a copy for my records it's all good

Only to yourself - most Contractors prefer weekly invoicing, OK more paperwork, but less exposure to risk, I'm sure you know what I mean from a Business perspective.....

In business you will have to deal with a lot of different suppliers/clients and they will pay you on a number of different terms. Having a system which requires you to rigidly stick to a monthly billing cycle is going to cause you problems in the long run.

I just keep a dead simple spreadsheet with one line per invoice, it lists the important information, time period, date raised, date due, amount, daily rate etc. Then I reconcile this against the self billing invoices raised by the agency and mark them off as they are paid. Simples.

I've just been asked to do the same with the agency I use - I thought it was a good idea; why are you against it? Why does it cause duplication?
