Apparently, you did not read my post completely to know i wasnt asking about a work permit but a BUSINESS VISA!!.

You might want a BUSINESS VISA!!!! but from what you have described you need a work permit. You are going there to do some client work not doing business.

Firstly, there is no work permit concept, you must be here on a Tier 1 visa.

Secondly, on a Tier 1 visa you cannot work in EU countries. There is a restriction on your visa.

Imagine if it was possible, thousands of them would hop in to UK on Tier 1 etc and then just swim across to Swiss or Germany or wherever there was more cash available. It would just be a back door.

Hi All,

i know i have posted a thread concerning something similar to this - (for those of you who recognize my user name ) .

My question is this, i have a contract in the Uk which requires me to also travel to Germany and Portugal . I am non-EU ,and currently on a Work permit in the UK. Has anyone in the room applied for a schengen Business Visa? if yes - what are the documents i need from my client. (Being a limited company do i need any special document? )

The end client filled out the form and sent it to their London agent. I sent my passport to the London agent they went to the Saudi embassy. I got my British passport back with the visa containing a page of Arabic writing and the words " Not Permitted to Work"

We are contractors and run our own business so we are "Business men/women" we are not workers so we dont need a work visa we need Business Visas!

Apart from that I can't help you as its not a problem I have.

Am lost on this one. Someone on a work visa getting a gig that he can't fulfil in other countries is way out of my league lol.

I don't even think the newbie guides cover this one.

My missus has had one from German Embassy, this is what you need (from memory)

1. Letter from your employer ie yourself

2. Letter from German Office of company visiting outlining what you will be doing there (not a good idea to lie to the Germans, read the tax threads)

3. Passport with more than three months left on it

4. The fee

5. Confirmed comprehensive health insurance valid for all Schengen states

Then u book an appointment on the phone, this is not easy, all done by keypad and easy to balls it up, plus it costs £1.50 a minute and takes about 10 mins. At this time of year expect a 3/4 week lead time.

On the day get to the consulate in London, before 10:30am and take your appointment, should get the visa back in ur passport in another week or so by post.

Simples!

Just checked its all changed! Book online now for an extra £17 and go to VFS processing centre in Harrow instead.
