I've never known an agent fear telling me I can't do a role so I'm not being put forward for it (usually they are totally wrong, of course, since I only apply for work I know I can do and/or have done, but we'll leave that aside).

The only time that it gets bounced to the fearsome "Account Manager" is because the agent is someone who was selling sports goods three months earlier and isn't allowed to think. And there are far too many of them for my taste

Or the account manager deals solely with the client and has 2-3 resources that need to find suitable profiles. The account manager wont do the leg work and will just manage the large amounts of admin that goes into working with a major account and stream CVs so that only a maximum of 2345 go to each position.

    Fracking 'Account Managers'

WTF do they know? Has there ever been such a useless waste of a job title?

Im fracked off with these arse wipes constantly being a block to being put forward for roles. Its got to the stage some time ago that if Im speaking to an agent on the phone, I ask if they have authority to submit me for the role or is there an account manager in the chain?

If the response is an account manager, i make it clear that there will be no exclusivity over the role and I'll be approaching other agencies.

Via LI last night, one of my contacts posted about a role that was of interest. So mailed him my cv. Tried to phone this morning to discuss further only to discover I dont have his number and he hasnt posted it on his contact details.

I mailed him again this morning to get more info. His reply is my cv will be 'considered' by the account manager.

He has sent more info and TBH, Im a better than very good fit for the brief info sent. I bet the tool of an 'account manager' will find some reason not to submit me though.

FFS! I feel like just fracking retiring!
