£500-750 in the Canary Wharf area, I would target the banking sector. A lot of the banks are going through Agile transformations at the moment. The banking sector tried implementing Agile many years ago but it didnt work out. They were not able to accept the cultural change and as a result dropped the idea.

They're trying again now. They've got buy-in from people higher up in the organisation chart and identified core reasons why they want to go Agile. I Myself am a Scrum Master and I know how much Agile skils are in demand. A friend of mine is a CSM, CSP, CSC and he's now working in Canary Wharf for banks.

Very useful information kight007 and wanted to check whether the London banks do consider scrum-masters with non banking experience. I have around 2 years of experience as Scrum-master and maintain an agile blog. I'm a CSM and working towards by CSP qualification. My Scrum-Master experience is all outside UK but I have worked for more than 5 years as project manager at UK (that was 3 years back).

I would be trying out contracting for the first time and I understand from you that the market may better in this area. Are there any other hurdles you see for my kind of profile? Any other suggestions from experienced contractors in this area would be pretty helpful.

You have tried checking sites like jobserve to see what is out there haven't you?

Depends how good you are?

and whether you're known within the Agile community, so if you're on the conference circuit, have lots of documented history of coaching successful agile projects then you can command a high rate.

Just read a book and was a scrum master on a few projects - then £500-750* depending upon industry and location.
