Oh dear - another poor victim of moderator oppression.

You were not banned for telling the truth - you were banned for inappropriate posting in the professional forums. I.e. behaving like an idiot. If you continue making such posts then you will be banned permanently. Behave yourself. If you want to muck about - take it to General.

Yep, should have said, I'm a developer.

I suppose manager types will say that's just a step above support. (well, 2 steps, testers in the middle :-)

    This^

I'd say on average these days, 25% of the agents who call me ask this "What is the lowest rate you will accept?" question. All they seem to want is the cheapest body on-site who can make them the most commission. As you say, they get short-shrift.

    Heh yeah.

Seriously though, I must get better at spotting time wasters. I took ages to post my "advice" but it was pointless when the OP is just a negative no hoper with no initiative.

Seriously saying its dead because the technology has moved on is just daft! So if its virtualised, then move from the OS to the technology.

Its like saying messaging specialists are a dead end because Novell GroupWise.lost out to exchange.

hopefully someone will find it useful.... Grrr

I can go up to 32GB on my system, but don't plan to build a Data Centre just yet.

Are you talking agents for perm roles or agents for contract roles? Agents very rarely say this, they are on commission so it isn't in their best interests to put you in as low as they can. It is in their interest to get their candidate in but cost isn't the most important factor. Even if they say that you stick the figure you want in and negotiate.[/quote]

i think i have a good understanding of the industry. supply and demand common sense !
This is just laughable. That is ecomonics not IT industry. I am refering to your comment 'My point is everything under a system architect is considered a talented helpdesk monkey'. What a crock of utter tulip.

Instead of moaning yourself in to a hole, how about getting a better, more positive attitude and go research what is out there and do something about it. I don't see common sense at all, just someone with blinkers who can't see the wood for the trees.

'jobs paying no better than working in tesco`s. ' is another comment that is just utterly ridiculous. I don't need to explain further.

Go find a permie board to moan on because this one is obviously not the place for you....

And for the record I will call Troll at this point.
