Generally, it was me delivering on the pre-sales solutions, hence why i got so involved in the solution aspect. also having spent days in rooms with no progress, there have been many times I've pushed and led, I hate wasted time...

No rush, but thanks for everyones views as always!

Well, I've seen it done by a boss I really admired. He went from Team leader tecchy, to PM , to SA and is still in SA about 8 years later..

He's got a leather armchair with a cigar holder and everything (not that he can use that feature anymore)

I say chance your arm if you fancy it.

    I don't count him as a PM

OK - one person, then. But I've never worked with him as a PM so can't comment on that.

Not being 'funny', but I've worked as an SA on-and-off for 15 years. I've never come across a single PM who could have fulfilled that same role. And you can because?

If you have the skills to be an SA and want to, then go for it, though.

Anyone gone from PM to Solution Architect? how did you find it?

I may have the opportunity (turned one down last year...) but now thinking it may be a really good string to my bow.
