    Darm, thanks that's useful info. I might one day have to take a contract in Germany and so that'll give me something to pitch in at. TBH it's less than what I get now but the market here in the UK is being decimated so the next logical step for me is to look to Europe.

    But you're forgetting Germany has a proper economy where not anyone can call themselves and engineer hence can command higher rates.

    I bet they also don't have to annoy the German equivalent of NLUK asking if vat is payable on profits!

    Frankfurt area pays the best rates, highest earners are between 45-49 and project leaders get the highest hourly rate.
