You don't ask for an extension. You drop a gentle reminder that your contract is due to expire soon, and mention if you're still needed you'd need to get a contract extension agreed and signed.Originally posted by bluedrop View Post1. Who should I approach for extn? Agency? Line manager? Reporting manager?
2. Shall I ask for a hike in my rate?
3. Anything I shouldn't do while asking for extn?
Remember -- the client/agent hired you to provide services for them, not so they could provide you with income.

<snip> hired a number of ex TCS or otherwise affiliated business analysts on contract basis. perhaps they are safe ?Originally posted by Scrag Meister View PostHave you actually been offered an extension?
I thought <snip> was going the way of Tata or similar, and dumping their contractors, or offering for them to go perm.

<snip>are always on the lookout for BA's as the churn is pretty high - just have a look at some the Hypen account manager's posts on linkedIN.Originally posted by chef View PostI can picture Dodgy on the phone now
"Hi, <snip>? Are you looking for a BA, highly qualified in the near future?.. Not sure eh? Well we'd be looking for a rate of circa 550 a day. (slightly less than 500 + 13%)"

<snip> paid around £500 pre 10% cut so you're already on top $ I'd say - if you ask for a rate rise they'll say no - please feel free to prove me wrong. As for asking for an extension, well that's what you pay the agent for, also with all the LBG CMU's you'll need to jump through, there's no harm at all in asking now, otherwise you'll end up with multiple 2 weeks extensions whilst the appoval is sought. If your line manager has any sense, then they'll have kicked off the extension process already.Originally posted by bluedrop View PostDear all,

Your agency bluedrop.
As an opening gambit, tell them you need confirmation of an extension 1 month before contract expiry date with 20% rate increase (with justification of your added value) else you’re walking.

How should anyone here know. but I don't think posting your rate on a public forum will be popular with anyone within LBG.

You honestly think going to your line manager or client for a rate rise is going to work?? Good to see you understand your situation and business.
First thing you need to do if you are going to get in a business negotiation is at least understand how the process works. You even give the agent a hint you haven't a clue he will have nothing to do with your requests. How can he take you seriously if you can't put a solid case to him?
You also have to be prepared to walk if you don't get what you want. He will sniff this out a mile as well.
