Currently looking at moving my B&C insurance from Santander (Peace of Mind Policy) at £106pm, to John Lewis at £68pm.

Both use the word unlimited cover for building and insurance, but John Lewis have a few extra options as mentioned by NLUK.

Be very careful with home insurances. Part of the new way to make home insurance to appear cheaper is to give you a basic quote you have to then add options to, options which were included in the older insurances and are very difficult to work out if you had it before. Check the 'away from home' option or similar wording. If you don't have this, which on the compare sites isn't checked as standard, then as you can imagine, they won't pay if it is out of the house.

Personally I would ring them and ask specifically if the laptop is insured if it is in the car or away from the house and get them to make a note you asked the question and was given a yes in your records.

Right bloody rip off as it was included in older insurances as standard.

    +1

It's cheaper to add it to your household contents insurance if it includes insurance for your bussiness contents at home, or if your business insurance is up for renewal add business contents on to that.

Insuring laptops or any other gadgets separately is much more expensive.
