Dec/Jan/Feb are definitely dead time....
Although saying that, the best paid contract I got was in Dec. But last year was very quiet.

I think I'll start handing out infractions...

Only 39 posts into your stay here, and yet you are making so many new friends...Originally posted by oliverson View PostThe topic is titled 'Seasonal Recruitment' not 'Seasonal Extensions' numb nuts! :-D
We do try to post something a little more professional than "it's all bollocks" and "numb nuts" in this part of the forum. See the Sticky created by the mods.

I've just renewed today. So that's 6 months more b****cks for me then.Originally posted by oliverson View PostIt's all a load of b****cks.
Decembery/January - dead
March - awaiting budgets for new financial year (April)
April - still awaiting budgets
May/June - maybe, just maybe
July/August/early September - decision makers are on holiday
October/November - supposed to be prime-time but not in my experience
Rinse and repeat
Fourth renewal on the trot, too.
Rinse and repeat.

write-off, to be pedantic.Originally posted by Clippy View Postwrite
To the OP - it depends. Jan/Feb are normally dead, but sometimes you just get lucky. I've had it work in both directions over the years, sometimes being out for 3 months or more, sometimes landing a role inside a couple of weeks. Just have to test the market and see how it goes. Mind you, as others have said, if I was offered a renewal to take me over that period, I'd grab it.Last edited by nomadd; 22 September 2011, 07:07.

I wouldn't bounce an extension just based on this but would factor it in.

Apart from the obvious couple of weeks over Christmas (though I did land a new gig in the week between Christmas and new year one time), I don't really think there is a much of a difference any time of the year myself.
