I used SJD for company formation about 5 years ago and then used a different accountant.

It cost approx £110+VAT and was done within a day or so.

The amount of time you have spent looking around and posting you could have had it done and dusted by now.
I agree, plus with SJD you don't even need to phone them, you can do it all online and via emails.

Google 'Ultra Vires' and 'the independant objects clause'. Also the reference case 'Cotman vs Brougham' if you really want to know. Or don't, it doesn't matter really, the standard forty quid off-the-shelf company has it all in there.

Apparently the Web Incorporation Service from CH doesn't include the articles + memorandum, these are an additional £30. Makes sense to go through a formation agent..

... additionally I don't know an accountant who can help me sort this out at such short notice. I need to fill in some forms for my contract and send them off by EOP tomorrow.

Cheers for the advice. I like the hands on approach, so I think I'm going to have a go at it myself and see how that goes using this service

Many accountants will set up a Ltd Co for you as part of the deal for no extra charge.

I used UKPLC last time: Company Registration - Company Formation Agent - Limited Company Registration - Setting up - Incorporation

Looks like Companies House have now set up a similar service of their own. None of it makes a lot of difference: a Ltd company is a Ltd company.
