Many accountants will set up a Ltd Co for you as part of the deal for no extra charge.

I believe this is what I was looking for. Not sure how old this link is, but it's good comparison as to what the dis/advantages of both methods are... anyone disagree with the link at all?

If you don't know what you are doing then I would do as Fred Bloggs suggested and get an accountant to set it up as part of the joining package. That way you get the price of your shares correct etc. Though it's not hard to do people can easily do it wrong.

Cheers for the advice. I like the hands on approach, so I think I'm going to have a go at it myself and see how that goes using this service

... additionally I don't know an accountant who can help me sort this out at such short notice. I need to fill in some forms for my contract and send them off by EOP tomorrow.

Apparently the Web Incorporation Service from CH doesn't include the articles + memorandum, these are an additional £30. Makes sense to go through a formation agent..

On second thought, I'm going to use this company: Company Registration - Company Formation Agent - Limited Company Registration - Setting up - Incorporation

All I want to do is register a new company which I'll use as my contracting company. Does anyone recommend any 'How to' guides for when it comes to doing the Articles / Memorandum sections?

Seriously odm, several people on this and the other thread have recommended using an accountant or one of the services that includes everything and yet you seem to completely ignore them. Why are you determined to do all this yourself and the hard way, is it a money issue?

Google 'Ultra Vires' and 'the independant objects clause'. Also the reference case 'Cotman vs Brougham' if you really want to know. Or don't, it doesn't matter really, the standard forty quid off-the-shelf company has it all in there.

It's more or a time issue. Don't have time during the day to speak to an accountant, only got evenings (like now), and I don't have an accountant as it is...
