They get nothing out of me unless they send a nice bottle of red along with their referral terms. Once I'm happy its worth my while, I forward on the details to my mate and get him to respond to agent with a cc: to me with reference to the referral.

It's worth remembering that sometimes other agencies are asked to "recommend somebody", and when they do they charge around 15% first year salary. You should be able to get 8% without much argument.

I NEVER give a pimp someone elses details.
This way if boyo is interested in the work they can call the pimp and mention they got it from me.
Though I do have fun passing along tulip roles to people.

If I know the agent, and I know the agent knows my mate, then I will say something like "Have you tried ABC?"
If I don't know the agent, but I know someone suitable, then I get the details and pass them on. I've had agents (fishing) who weren't happy about this "Caaam on, mayt - I proably know vem anywaaaayyy..."

Edit: As for "Or is it a dog eat dog world to you? " Since I can't do the work myself, I'd rather it goes to a mate or someone I would recommend. It can only benefit me in the long run.
