Bob Shawaddywaddy has screwed up the middle east for westerners. They can hire a bunch of Bob's for less than the cost of a westerner. So that is what they do now.

The key with roles out there is the package that come with them. It makes a huge difference if they also include accomodation and some flights. Without these it becomes almost worse than an equivalent rate here unless you particularly want to work over there. Unfortuantely there are so may ex pats out there they don't often need to offer these perks anymore.

Got a contractor at ClientCo at the moment who worked in Afghanistan last year. Was on £650 a day (not that spectacular I guess considering the place) but got paid for 7 days a week, regardless of him working or not...

Hi
Thanks for the info
Just early days at the moment but I agree that the rates do not appear to be what they were, also once the conversions are finsihed the numbers come down a lot
Many Thanks
Mark

Monster has a section that seems to deal with Gulf jobs. It is at Monster Gulf - Jobs in Dubai, IT Jobs, Sales JobsOriginally posted by Mark777 View PostHI
I have been looking at contracting in the UAE and was wondering if anybody could recommend any good agencies or job boards
Many thanks
From what I can see when I was looking at it the rates were not spectacular. The days of mega bucks in the middle east are gone unless you take on some risk...
Most people I spoke to off here also wanted someone already based there or had considerable experience in the region.
