Aggressive? That is the most moronic thing I think I have read on this forum to date. You obviously have a very poor grasp on being a contractor and to be honest going permie for a local authority. You sound like just the person to fit in. I bet all the permies at your place have a pretty dim opinion of contractors as a whole from this experience. I guess there is no point discussing IR35 and two year rules as you are so far within IR35 if you knew what it was.Originally posted by barroom hero View Postcheers for responses, I shall pass the message on as there are 10 of us. We were adament that after 24 months an employer was legally deemed to have proven a role was available. Ho Hom.
We're not all happy about the perm roles, as central gov cuts will be in place for new employees, and if anyone thinks im working 5 days and getting paid for 4 has another thing coming.
What you are doing however is congfusing these new fangled permie approaches that are being used by a lot of big companies whereby you are on a contract for 2 years like a probation and there is some requirement for the company to give you a role or let you go. This is totally different to being a contractor though. I would have said it was an easy enough mistake to make but not when it is being made by the person actually working the contract. To not understand your own employment situation is.. well... just...
But then I just probably fed the troll so last laugh is on me

If you are wondering if you have some "right" to a permie job after all this time, the answer is no.Originally posted by barroom hero View PostPerm roles are coming up but where do I stand, shouldn't I be offered one of thes no questions asked?
But there is nothing to stop you from going from contract to permie, lots of people have done it. Don't be shy, go right up to them and declare your undying love and devotion to the boss and ask if they have any permie jobs.

As the second poster said.Originally posted by barroom hero View PostPut bluntley, I've been on site for 3 years and a week with a local authority, the first 2 years I worked through an umbrella, then changed to ltd. no gaps, no hols, no sickness, no change of company, no change of location, no change of role.
Perm roles are coming up but where do I stand, shouldn't I be offered one of thes no questions asked?
But if after 3 years you haven't built good relationships with those who make these decisions then that's a little worrying.
At the end of the day you could be in with a good shot at a perm role so apply for one, unless of course the perm roles are being created to replace you because you are a doofus.

Nope.
You need to understand the difference between providing services through a company and being a temporary employee.
You have no right to be offered a permie position as it's the company that you are a Director of who is supplying personnel to fulfil a business contract.
