But surely you are a supplier to both your agent and your client. Not a customer.

Your customer is your agent, NOT (despite misguided belief) the end client (it's not your client either - hence the restriction clauses).

You are a supplier to the agency, therefore you have to prove your identity to us. We are a supplier to the end client, and fudge me do we have to prove who we are.

Insurance, ltd co docs, UTR's, VAT numbers, Declaration of equal rights, occassionally photo ID of our directors (only one client has done this, but still).

I was inspired by Old Holborn / GOT to put that on.

However, over 27% of the traffic I get from Google is via the key words "hairy c..t". The worrying thing is that I get a lot of traffic using variations and combination of Afghan (afghani, afganistan) , Hairy and C...t.

These sort of questions make me laugh. Not at the question or the questioner, but of my own situation.

On the one hand I think that I am glad that I don't have to go through having to do all this bollox.

Then I realise that I would never manage to satisfy these requirement even if I wanted to.

It's a good job I don't work in the UK, nor do I want to, because I would never be allowed to.

I always try to get out of any photos that will be stored on an internal SharePoint project team site or on the wall etc...

Obviously a lot of dodgy Bobs and Northerners around.

Again, the OP is indicating a photo NOT a photo ID unless he just hasn't explained it very well. Taking in to the account he reposted this in another forum late last night for no apparant reason, maybe he hasn't

I'm new and really need some help. I've had a few contracts in the past doing helpdesk stuff but this new agency has said I cant take up the contract unless I supply a passport photo. Its apparently a deal breaker if i dont do it.

I'm just curious as i've never had to do it before. they have my umbrellas certificate of incorp and the vat details. Ive just never been asked for that. I can see why someone in say the construction industry would need it but not IT. its not even a government or bank site.

has anybody got adviace on this please.

If they want a copy of your passport to feel safer about you being allowed to work in this country, just give it to them, no big deal.

If they just want a photo for whatever reason I am sure they would have taken it when you arrive? I always try to get out of any photos that will be stored on an internal SharePoint project team site or on the wall etc...

Erm, no. You need to provide your passport to prove your are eligible to work in the UK.

Does it actually ask you for a passport sized photo or a photocopy of your passport? To me a passport photo is the former.

If that is the case then this does not cover the link. If you read it it says

From what I read from the OP he is only being asked for a photo??/

You could of course start by asking them why they need this. Might shed some light on the situation and help with what to do next.

TBH I would much rather send a photo in than a whole host of other personal details that are sometimes asked for but in any case I would be well within my rights, and in fact daft not to, ask what it is for.
