Slightly off topic but I got one of these emails a while back and was a bit suspicious about the fact the web address listed at the bottom in the signature was slightly different to the one that comes up for Evolution Jobs when you google them. The email link seemed to take me to the same website (layout etc. was the same) but it didn't seem to feature on google at all with that url. I emailed the company via the googled website to ask if they'd sent the mail and they confirmed they had so I guess it was just a case of them registering multiple web addresses that link to the same place, or similar.

Has anyone heard of them? They've woken up my suspicious bump as I've updated my profile and CV on CWJobs less than half an hour ago and this pops up in my inbox:



The 'click here' takes you to a page that starts with confirming the email address that the link was sent to. I didn't fill it in to see what else they want to know about me that isn't in my CV or profile.

Now, I'd really like to think that my CV is so awesome that agents are falling over themselves to give me a new contract. However, that's in fantasy land so I'm interested to know what these chaps are up to and find out if anyone's ever dealt with them.

I've had this email a few times. Once you confirm your email it then goes onto ask you for about four references. They have also called me and left messages asking me to fill it out.

Erm, might be a daft question but this gets asked quite a bit and people tend to be quite derogatory about it but isn't this kind of a good thing? Ok its out and out fishing and very impersonal but when you are looking for work isn't being on as many agents databases a good thing. Ok they might be two bit companies but if there is a 0.5% change these guys might get you a role it is better than laughing it off and not following their request?

I tend to make sure the co is legit and then fill it in and add myself to their DB's as they request. Can't see how not doing is helping me?

I pretty much agree with you on that one. When I get these requests the first thing I do is check out their website and do some further research and if it all looks good then I'll continue. Admittedly I now get loads of mails for positions that aren't suitable for me but in between there are some finds and have got contracts that way.

A lot of agents pay to get notification of new/updated CV's from the major job sites. The mail was most likely an autogenerated form letter spawned when their system was notified of your CV's appearance.
