A 'small app' sounds like a couple of days work for someone used to the platform. Even in the UK you are probably looking about £500 since freelancers are generally cheaper than contractors (£25/hr is pretty good for a freelance programmer).
If you're confident about being able to filter out someone good from the inevitable dross, you could probably shave off half by using RentaCoder or such.

A rough spec would help... nothing lost by doing a 1/2-1 page spec and posting on oDesk/RentaCoder/PeoplePerHour to see. Anyone who doesn't mention your spec in their bid - bin 'em. Anyone who says "I am a PM of..." - bin 'em. Anyone under <$20/hr - bin 'em (since you're new to this). Anyone who can't mention previous iPhone apps they did - bin 'em. There are skilled programmers in Asia, if you're prepared to put the time in.

    Good luck!

Assuming it really is a simple app and is say no more than a week's work, then £2-3k?

    iPhone Development cost

    Hi folks
Looking at getting a iPhone app developed as part of my ongoing plan B.
This would be a small app to retrieve data from a webservice etc etc.
Anyone have a ball park figure of what I would need to pay.
    Thanks

Working...
