In my PM 'niche' the rates vary wildly. I'm applying for 250/day up to 375/day. My last contract was in the middle of that range.

To be honest, the difference (compared to pre-meltdown) is having to travel + hotel stay, even to get the lower end of the scale.

I applied for the one at the top of this topic, and was told 'no CRM exp - no good'; everything else was a good match - client can even afford to be fussy at this rate

I'm still getting calls from agencies quoting £600 PD and upwards for SAP and finance PMs.

Guess some of you PMs will have to retrain to keep up.
Can you suggest please what suitable 'retraining' can be done to get into Finance?

Yep - I have niche BA skills and have not been hit too badly for a contract I picked up beginning of the year.

That's my problem at the moment I am a generic BA with PM experiance and have not got that niche skill set. Not much change of getting it either with the market as it is.

However, don't mind what I do really and something will always turn up.

You know, I think it must be. I can't think of another reason in the current climate. Unless of course this is a job that requires certain skills that a BA would have and an ex-finance industry person trying to blag it would not.

Is that the reason for lack of CV's? How about 2 day's in the office and 3 working at home

this role is paying £200 per day.
I reckon that the clients may have trimmed rates a bit, but I also guess that agencies are not passing on the the rate that the client thinks they are passing on. I reckon agencies are using the recession as an excuse to widen their margins at the contractors expense?

I am not a million miles from Wolverhamton as I am south of B'ham and i am finding the rates differ so much. If you want a day off and you want to use you right of Substitution - let me know

Was told by 1 agent they had 200 replies for a BA role in London, however I still got called as not many of the applicants had the skills they were looking for and I had. Unforunately, London is not an area I would concider 5 days a week - Typical.
