yeah, well the client is getting £40 more off me...but they've done the same thing to all the other contractors....

only difference if that i get to work from home....

well I do agree with the logic of people's comments on this...that they're just trying to save money..and stiffing me...

but if i can bag a couple of days at home....watching tv, spending time with the wife and get paid...albeit slightly less...i'll take it...

You should have maintained your rate and insisted on the working at home bit as well.

spoke direct to the main boss...he tells me the agency is only on 10% commission of day rate....

so I decided to mull it over the weekend...

and negotiated with him about working from home on select dates for the next two weeks..so a couple of days working from home..

Didn't take much agent/client BS to make you buckle. So the agent was only getting 10%. He must have been satisfied with that, and now does he get 20% for the last 10 days?, or does the client get this xmas bonus. Either way, you've been flipped. You could have easily stood your ground and kept the £400 you've now given away.

I would have said nobody insists on a 10% discount for the last 10 days of a contract unless they really are on a shoestring. Obvious bluff. But you know the lie of the land better than I.

Right guys, been told my contract can be extended for 10 more days til the end of the year. But I need to accept a 10% drop.

I think it's tototally tulip, but in all honesty I won't be finding another contract this close to xmas....

was on 400 a day, so this'll drop it down to 360, which isn't bad, considering the times....I have to spend £40 per night on b and b....

so...walk or stay...

was kinda of looking forward to spending the rest of dec at home chilling out...

Can't understand why so many posters would allow this obvious 'try on' by the agent. No wonder agents get up to so many tricks with us. The OP should at least front it out. Will the agent/client try to recruit someone for 2 weeks to save peanuts, and risk getting a monkey - get real people.

Agreed. I would probably cut off my nose to spite my face in this case.

I wouldn't fund the agent's Xmas present buying.

I am very aware it's not a good time to refuse good work, just not happy with the agent/end client trying to cut down 10%

Will front it out /negotiate.
