Don't hold your breath waiting. If this gig was to finish, I fear I'd be facing months on the bench or a permie job on about £35 to £42k a year. Luckily, the omens are good on this job I feel. (At the moment).......
And to think there are threads here from people choosing to give up nice comfy lives abroad to come to the UK and join us on the bench...................
The market is seriously frustrating at the moment; just hope the upturn is round the corner.

Me too, otherwise I think it's going to be a long stint on the bench...

Well, after things looking quite promising, I'm now less than pleased to report that nothing has come of anything I've applied for so far except for a few phone calls from agents
And just found out this gig is probably going to end early
Yes, real world indeed ............. problem is, usually amongst them there's the odd interview here and there, but not now. It's the lack of interviews that's worrying me.
Funding not approved/Funding withdrawn - becoming more common
Looking to fill the requirement internally - constant but due to company policy HAVE to advertise it externally (although no intention of taking an external candidate)
Project cancelled - becoming more common
Project put back nn months - this happened to one of my roles today
Manager gone on holiday - well I am going on holiday tomorrow, so feasible
Can't get a decision - no one responding to your calls, email, texts
Or (my personal favourite) no feedback at all! - most common one when you have to go through HR, who won't chase the decision maker cos they are too busy sitting around discussin the new series of Katie and Peter!
No problems here, I am still getting semi regular calls that seem to be genuine as well (no requests for references, or quizzes about who I'm working for).
Have you had any interviews set up though? I've been getting calls, CV going forward but then the feedback goes like this:
Funding not approved/Funding withdrawn

Manager gone on holiday
Can't get a decision

Its easy to see some people are having to work away to get the roles. For instance there's no jobs in the NE for testers so the makem lad must be getting calls for jobs away from home.
Fortunately, Im being extended but I know it can be hard finding a new role. Generally in the north, expect to be out around 8 weeks. Further south, probably less time.
Correct and the agents know I'll work anywhere for the right rate.
