Yes. Except the leave requests. I don't bill when I'm on a training course, because contractually I can't. But you bet I would if I could. And if they client invites me to an all-staff meeting, where perhaps I might have something to contribute, or gain valuable "inside" knowledge, then of course I'll go. And bill for the time.

I've had a few contractors who thought they were my boss. They soon came round to my way of thinking, as it helped them deal with the guy who thought he was his boss.

well apart from the aforementioned little annoyances, trying to negotiate contract terms with the rest of us at renewal time despite having the same pimp as us and being privy to all our rates and agency margins (can you say "conflict of interest"?)

Doesn't apply to me as I'm rubbish at my job and rarely last longer than a month

Hmm good question, depends on what they were expecting to be honest. I don't think it's unreasonable to 'request' holiday, I expect my teams to check their dates with me irrespective of whether they're contract or perm, and I in turn do the same with the clientco. To my mind that's courtesy and good business rather than D&C.

What other sort of things are they expecting of you, and what is your role in relation to theirs? Are they even connected?

It's full of 'em here. I've only been on the job a short while but others have been years. Some have ducked in and out of the job as work peaked and troughed and at the moment I'd like to be onme of those too. It's long term project and it's a very harsh world out there right now. Anyone wanting to be a brickie building houses right now on £150 a day? Thought not.

Like I care that they've got a new Head of HR. ( Well, I do, cos that means a reorg, which means changes to the systems, which means moolah for me. )
