Haven't done it myself for absolutely ages (no need for the stuff I'm working on at the moment), but every salesperson needs to generate leads and pipeline at some point, and it's a tried and tested way of doing so... and let's not get any high notions of "helping people" or "making a difference". We're targeted salespeople who are tasked with generating revenue for our respective organisations.
Look, I know it's not exactly ethical or "fair", but it's the way the industry is.
