Ignoring the trite answers, it matters if you are over one or more credit limits or have missed or underpaid a monthly statement.
Two questions for clearance are "are you honest" and "can you be coerced". Big debts, which these are, will affect the latter.
And they will know all about them anyway, which affects the former.

Debt you can afford is no problem. I have a mortgage bigger than that.
Debt you can't afford could be a problem. Debt to the wrong people will be a problem (bookies, mafia, Russians, etc.)

No, you will not be rejected because of this unless there’s a dodgy reason for accruing the debt.
This level of credit usage is not out of the ordinary.

Hi, I am now required to go through SC Clearance for Home Office. I have a 27k and around 15k Credit card balance. I have been managing them very well and have no default or any other adverse history. Will this be reason for rejection? Should i declare this on the form specifically?Tags: None
