Application Analyst Qualifications

Like Site Reliability Engineers. (The infrastructure equivalent version of you).

In old money I'd call you Application Support. You're going to have problems looking at specific qualifications for this, they'll mainly lay in agile/devops or the more technical Azure/AWS world like crypto/key vault management.

Or you could become more rounded and look into SRE activities.

Basically it will depend on your interests and where you see yourself in 5 - 10 years time.

Yup. I'd say the bottom line is the most pertinent. Do you not want to move up the tree and see if you can better yourself? Surely this area is one that offshoring is hitting very hard? It is at my current client. I'd say think bigger if you want to future proof yourself.

You'll have to watch what you claim for though. Training courses for something you aren't currently doing won't be allowed. That said it's up to you to make the call on the risk. If you are off the opinion a PM course is useful to application support analyst because you want to move in to PM is all IT related then go for it. I'd say it's not. It's a new skill to get different business so not claimable. Highly argued topic.

Application Analyst??

Never heard of them. What's one of those then? What do you do day-to-day?

I'm very surprised at this. There are quite a few roles on jobserve for them at the moment for example.

I guess the same role will have a different title at different clients I guess.

I have been working as an application analyst for a while, i have an MCSA MS SQL, ITIL, Prince 2 foundation.

I am interested to know what qualifications you guys have when doing this role? I am considering doing an Agile Foundation course as that is the environment i am in at the moment, i simply want to future proof myself.

Any thoughts anyone ?
