You sell yourself with 'experience' in the outdated hardware mentioned above, then get a basic 3PAR qualification. Now you're a storage expert. And be careful when you get your first gig that you don't get found out in the first month.

You are highly unlikely to get any gig with no experience. Clients use contractors to bring expertise in, not to train them so you'll be wasting your time and theirs by applying. It is possible to change some roles while in contract but a brand new technology skill is unlikely.

Storage is a piece of piss, one of the more over-hyped 'skills'. Sorry storage guys....

Ask within the company. Like most things in life, show an interest in it and you might get lucky with a mentor waiting there for a willing student.
