I completely disagree - any client who think it is "free" to ensure a contract starts, and remains, outside, is very naive. The entity that owns the risk (the organisation) is not the same as (and often very far removed from) those who are most likely to cause things to go awry (the local manager who is working with the contractor). This is the very reasons the banks did blanket bans on PSCs - because the corporate side the business could not trust the local managers to ensure working practices stayed outside.

Anyone here who thinks a contract could be outside doesn’t understand how risk adverse large clients are and how good HMRC’s campaign to scare end clients has been.

Bit of wishful thinking that it's just that simple to change it from INSIDE to OUTSIDE...
It's not you who is responsible for paying that, right?
Also if it's OUTSIDE role they may as well cut the comp by 20-25%.

BOE says recession next year, along with the tech bubble bursting, they'll soon be reducing that rate and getting multiple candidates OR maybe axing the position as more people are forced into office to produce stuff instead of chill at home.

they must be with "top tier" Banks. It's never a "second tier" bank, or an "averagely awful" retail Bank.

I've also heard that in DevOps you can run 2 to 3 contracts at the same time

I'm happy with using those techs. Yes, sometimes there's a bit of waiting around involved and potentially that could open up the possibility of serving a second contract, but I really couldn't be bothered juggling two contracts, co-ordinating meetings, etc. Maybe if I was a bit younger/hungrier.

not actively looking at the moment, but number of calls / emails I’m getting has jumped quite significantly in the last week or so

It would be good to get an agents view on it but I have been informed that the CV search facility in CV Library and next best candidate has been upgraded.
