used them on a recent contract that lasted over 12 months and was paid weekly and always on time as per the cycle. They pushed for monthly but will do weekly if required

FWIW if you want a quick (and free) credit check you could do worse than Duedil.com basic info on the accounts and any defaults is available for free.
If you want a more in depth report (and you do) we would suggest Experian PAYG reports.
Lovely mods please note, we don't get any kickbacks for these recommendations

The co info on the site I linked doesn't indicate any kind of a struggle though.

Have a look at IPSE. They have something to help if an agent goes under I believe.

A lot of contractors at my last gig were through them. Looked like weekly timesheets (paper) with weekly payment as far as I could tell from the stuff left on the printer/photocopier.

You can use this one to get a quick view of their last reported trading position and to see whether their accounts are up to date.
No idea how much they charge for a full search though (£2.00 per doc I think) , but the freebie does give you info about CC judgements and charges on file though

I used them in 2007, and they did weekly invoicing then - I had to complete a weekly timesheet, sent in an invoice with it and it was paid the following week (just checked my records). All paper-based, though, so hopefully they have moved on since then.
The guy I used to deal with left, though, and went to Oracle Contractors instead.
You can do a credit check through duedil or if you are an IPSE member you can do one with a discount through there - don't know how much either costs. Maybe ping SafeCollections a PM here, as they have done checks before for people, I think.
They've been around for a while (since 1995 according to their website)
