Is there a way of asking for my client to provide me with a hotel? I currently commute 3hrs daily, 104miles. Whilst I get the tax relief on the mileage it's starting to get tiresome.
Have you tried asking the client to provide you with a hotel?
Getting a hotel paid for by a client is something that is done up front, and it is normally only if they are struggling to fill the position and you the specialist, live far enough away and they are desperate to bring you in.

That's the commute of most permies that work here, PC I think you have competition
Got to be a wind-up. Geraint - please dont tell me your welsh!
As others have said, why should a client care about where you live etc? Its not their problem.
Only way you're ever going to get client to cough up is if you do some sort of strange deal at the beginning but generally its just tough tulipe.
3 hours commute - you mean 90 mins each way? Not that bad to be honest.
Any chance of train instead a few days a week? I find it less stressful.
Also, having done that sort of drive myself i will agree it does do your chunk in if its 5 days week. One night a week stop over in a travelodge or something makes a big difference. Catch up on kip etc.

LOL! Are you new to this contracting lark? Good luck with asking your client to provide you with a hotel.
All you need do is say "I currently commute 3hrs daily, 104miles and the commute is getting tiresome."

Simple really, you can ask, but don't be at all shocked when they look at you like you've grown an extra head or can't stop laughing.
Unless your contract currently includes T&S and accommodation costs or you can negotiate it in then the client has no obligation to pay for your commuting or living costs.

Agree with the above poster, it's not the clients problem where you live. I work in Germany, have a hotel room booked close to site, and currently pay rent for a flat in the UK I sleep in MAYBE once a month.

Why is it your clients problem where you have chosen to live?
Presumably you knew the distance to the place of work before signing the contract?
