NW are excellent. Never needed to speak to anyone in 3 years. All done via email - cant fault them.

Not sure why you posted this in the business/contracts and not Accounting/Legal. If you had you would have spotted a sticky called Accountant Recommendations. Also in the FAQ you will find the best method to search the site. The link is below. You will be able to find all the other threads that people have started with this same question. Plenty of reading for you there...Originally posted by anthony View Post
Know I now that on CUK there is a section around various accounts that specialise with contractors; but i would like to know from you guys if you can recommend any good accountants. I live in Reading so would prefer one in a closer proximity to me.

Been with SJD for sometime and won't consider anyone else now. Always on the ball with their advice, been very quick in their turn around and always on time filing for everything. Been helpful with other bits that I have asked them to do. They are the only accountants I have tried, they are not cheap however after having spoken to a few other people I would rather pay them a little bit more and have peace of mind rather than go with a cheaper accountant who will not look after your interests or makes you chase him/her around.Originally posted by anthony View PostHi guys,
Just to set the scene, i finally took the plunge at got my first contract around 4 months ago. I was advised by other contractors to take this gig under an umbrella until Ive "studied" on opening up a LTD. Now there is just one concern i have around a good accountant and whats generally a good price for them to do everything - VAT, Company returns etc etc etc

Thanks for any advice you can offer.
I colleague of mine who was with another accountant mentioned that his account, had submitted to HMRC his year end accounts saying that he had taken out a Director's Loan from the company without him knowing about it. It is small niggles like these which have caused me to stick with SJD. Also when my main accountant has been off I have had a very capable replacement on cover so my business is not affected.

SJD Accountancy if you need to make in-person visit, also consider Nixon Williams
I thought I'd lose out with NW as they don't do in-person stuff, but to be honest I've not needed it and my dealings with them are reduced to about 15 mins work a month (past some to-and-fro in the first setup month)
