When it comes to brexit, if you mean , I've found you have to be explicit, otherwise people will think you are being serious no matter how bonkers you sound.

For example:

Surely, if we want a Canada style deal, and the EU's only objection is our proximity to mainland Europe, surely the obvious solution would be to use a huge fleet of tugs to tow us a few hundred miles away.
