For the sake of the argument, let's say you're right, and it's not worth subscribing to. (There is no evidence for this, by the way). I'm sure it's not the only such international agreement the UK is signed up to. But it is *palpably* not the reason for No 10's refusal. Given they've identified the Coronavirus as something which, malhandled, could topple the government, I have no doubt they'd love to sign up if it didn't have the word 'Euro' anywhere near it.

So back to the original point of posting, Brexit is causing policy to be driven by lunacy.
You're making the fatal mistake of thinking quitters like Mordac work to evidence, logic, reason and facts; they don't. They are driven by xenophobia, hatred, fear and fake news.

I suspect a lot of people don't actually read the papers properly or just skip the bits under the big bold words at the top but the UK is still a member of EWRS and will only leave once the transition period is over. The DoH have even said:

"The Department of Health pitched for continued access to the EWRS to be an objective of the negotiations, but it was blocked because they didn't want to be accused of seeking more than the basic Canada deal."

    ...

Health officials believe leaving the EWRS would put public health at risk, pointing out that it has helped to coordinate the response to the virus, as well as SARS and the bird flu outbreak.
