UK representative democracy died on the same day the referendum was called. If the last 3-4 years have shown us anything it is the UK parliament no longer works. Ironically supporters of leave used the last election as confirmation of the referendum result.
Freddie Mercury was once asked, what instrument do you play? The audience darling, came the reply. This is what Boris does to the electorate. Tells them what they want to hear. Much like Thumps voting base (like the Trump voting bankrupt Montana farmers sitting on a mountain of Soya with no one to sell it to). Vote for the soundbites, forget about the consequences.
Jim Jefferies speech from 4 years ago.. he was spot on.

The facts came out on December 12th. The most glaring of them being that the electorate at large were acutely aware that their wish to LEAVE the EU had been getting thwarted every step of the way by whining politico Bremoaners in Parliament.Originally posted by Cirrus View PostBut the facts are just starting to come out.
The necessary steps were taken by the voters and now it is full steam ahead...............at least on the planet that most of us still live on.
Maybe you could give us the view from Planet Deludia?

Hang on to the dream. You'll soon have to wake up.
We've had three and a half years with no facts whatsoever. But the facts are just starting to come out.Originally posted by shaunbhoy View PostIf only we could have a People's Vote.

Well that is certainly one way of looking at it. Entirely speculative of course, but if it fits your cranky narrative knock yourself out.Originally posted by Cirrus View Postothers simply thought Jezza must be the Devil incarnate so they best put a lying buffoon in charge of this great nation.

You would have thought so but once again, PaperBhoy, you would be wrong. You personally may have voted for Brexit but others simply thought Jezza must be the Devil incarnate so they best put a lying buffoon in charge of this great nation. Weird but we've learnt how utterly barmy the electorate is inclined to be. Despite everything, the majority is for staying in the EU (at 52%)Originally posted by shaunbhoy View PostA recent poll(the GE) indicated that we, as a nation, are still heavily in favour of leaving the EU

Reliable statistics and figures from a trusted source might do, but the random vapid outpourings of your zany imagination are, like so many of your "contributions", entirely worthless.Originally posted by NotAllThere View Post95% of them have. They clearly haven't researched matters properly.

It's a complete travesty of course as within the innumerable collection of pompous London-centric self-righteous social media bubbles, the urge to Remain continues to grumble along at fever pitch. Aided and abetted by umpteen gurning expats that nobody cares much about.Originally posted by Cirrus View PostA recent poll(the GE) indicated that we, as a nation, are still heavily in favour of leaving the EU

Possibly, at least 27 European ones...Originally posted by Platypus View PostAnd yet, if being in the EU equates to "power" then these are rated below the UK in that list
Czech Republic 9
Slovakia 10
Hungary 10
Slovenia 11
Latvia 11
Estonia 12
Poland 14
So the UK does have more "power" than [some] other European countries.
I was thinking about visa free travel, although the media likes to equate that number with "power".
It will be interesting to see how many countries the UK loses (in terms of visa-free travel) after the transition.

EDIT: added "some (but not all)" for clarity, even though that should have been clear, but apparently not ffs
