Your statement however is "plenty of battery factories in the UK", show me that plenty - automotive batteries (for movement, not bog standard to ignite fuel).

Wow JLR suddenly realises it can built electric cars in the UK, but someone else needs to start a battery factory first.

I’m only joking. But just the other side of the coin I absolutely hate the sound of motor bikes, especially dirt bikes.

I can never see an electric motorbike giving the same pleasure as a conventional bike, as many of the desireables of a conventional bike, e.g. exhaust note, will be eliminated. Anyone who thinks that isn't an issue is deluding themselves. In the whole of my association with bikes, and that's over 60 years, we have always striven to make our bikes noisier, hence the market for straight through silencers.

So are we now saying that the UK is a viable place to produce electric cars, and that the spin about Ford's reason for pulling out might not be 100% right?

I can't see electric motorbikes taking off somehow!
Toyota to accelerate the popularization of battery electric vehicles with more than 10 models available in world markets by the early 2020s.
