Split of main parties is the only way we get proportional representation - first past the post results in majority rule that carries way too much risks (like Brexit)

Mark my words - UK won’t be allowed to rejoin EU without “reform” of the archaic non- democratic electoral system

Or waking up to the idea that unless you want some kind of Leninist democratic centralism model, disagreement continues after a vote. Of course, the ERG always knew this. They were just exploiting the gammons' intrinsic distrust of intellectualism and free debate, to try (ineffectually) to silence opposition.

May has a fondness for the Leninist approach.

Looks like members of the ERG are on the verge of walking out of the Tory Party.

Exactly. Forcing a GE whereby these ERG members wouldn't be selected by their local conservative associations and would then be slung out of parliament.

    Might be a good thing!

    Would be good

Tories to split up right of centre and extreme right
Labour to split up left of centre and extreme left

The extreme versions are generally largely wiped out in the next elections

    1. Where would they go? Would UKIP accept them? Would they form a new party with Farage?
    2. If all the ERG left the Tory party, that would mean Labour would have more MPs than the Tories.
