This week it was revealed that the UK economy grew by 0.5% in the final quarter of 2018, and because this was marginally better than the even more woeful prediction of 0.4% the hard-right Daily Express ran a front page story declaring that "the Brexit Boom is here"!
Never mind the fact that 0.5% growth actually makes the UK the second slowest growing economy in the entire developed world, or that the UK is projected to suffer the worst negative wage growth rate anywhere in Europe this year ... Britain is booming, the Daily Express told me so.

May mulls paying into the EU budget post Brexit
Brexit U-Turn as MP's consider staying in the customs union
I've come to the conclusion that I was wrong, I thought Switzerland would be closer to where the UK would end up with at least a token distance from the EU, but it's increasingly clear that the UK will in effect be full members of the EU with some changes to the syntax rather than semantics.

That is the "imagined" hit that exists solely in the heads of morons. Nicely picked up, although I am sure one of the other jellyheads would have done so, once they have stopped their daily window-licking.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostIt's great that you admit there was a brexit hit, but if there hadn't been, the growth would have been even better.

I am not convinced the growth would have happened as everyone would have been going on as before and pretending everything is alright.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostIt's great that you admit there was a brexit hit, but if there hadn't been, the growth would have been even better.
I think Brexit has focussed peoples minds and we no longer suckle at the saggy teat of the EU

UK growth upgrade could 'dwarf' Brexit hit - BBC NewsOriginally posted by BrilloPad View PostI will stock pile now in preparation for a hard brexit.....
Well well well................
Britain should prepare for a much more economically optimistic 2018 because global growth is better than predicted.
That's the argument of Lord Jim O'Neill, the former Conservative Treasury minister and Remain supporter.
He said Britain's growth forecasts are likely to be upgraded as China, the US and Europe show increased activity.
The gloomy predictions of the possible effects of Brexit are likely to be "dwarfed" by the more positive figures, Lord O'Neill added.

I am pleased there is something. As I am getting fed up with high house prices. When is this mythical economic crash occurring?
