Mine too.
The photos on the web of the more recent passports are also black. I can only assume that they used to be dark blue in the 1950's.

True black dyes are quite hard to achieve and many black dyes are actually really really really really dark blue purple or brown. And granted my black passport is faded and old. But it’s black. 100%.

I think you should get to choose. So like an iphone. My iphone case is dark blue to I would perhaps go for the default but the misses likes pink.
