Little Englander | Define Little Englander at Dictionary.com

No mention of ignorance or Boorishness, just that they oppose expansion of the Empire and they judge other nations actions in light of the effect they have on Britain.
sounds sensible to me, its not as if the French or Germans or any others of the 27 are particularly altruistic.

Funnily enough, I've been a Tory voter all my life. Except for this year, when I bit down hard and voted Labour; my local MP is one of the few that defied the whip and voted against Article 50 in Parliament.Originally posted by Mordac View PostYou sound like a Liberal Democrat. the Little Englander Voice of Brexit would say . . .
"France is no longer France anyway, it's overrun by North African migrants, who are changing the culture, causing a rise in terror related incidents. which due to EU policies and open boarders French authorities are powerless to stop suspects absconding or letting in more potential terrorists.
we don't want any of that over here, seal up the channel tunnel and weld the door shut"
that's what a Little Englander would say
"Little Englander" is a pejorative term for British nationalists, English nationalists, or English people who are described as xenophobic or overly nationalistic and are accused of being "ignorant" and "boorish".

You sound like a Liberal Democrat. And no, that isn't a compliment...Originally posted by meridian View PostGiven that Juncker is President of the EU, that would be the EU then. The whole of the EU.
So, a proper comparison (especially given the Single Market) is not the UK with France, but the UK with the EU.
The USA, China, and the EU between them control over 50% of the world's GDP. Whether the UK is 5th, 6th, in that context is irrelevant. It's like putting an elephant and an ant together and claiming that the ant is the second largest. It's true, but of no consequence except to boost the ant's ego.

Guess who'll be taking care of Junckers bar tab after 29th March 2019...

Some of us make our own English sparkling wine (although not this year due to wasps destroying most of the crop, instead I'm focused on 15l of cider)Originally posted by Mordac View PostFar from it, they're probably seeing a post-referendum boost in champagne sales. So back to 2013 then.
All it needs is exchange rates to change, or French to have a strike, and places will be swapped.
More interestingly, India is approaching fast. UK needs to start talking to them.
Or do what they did in 1800. Invade. And they destroy 70% of their GDP over the next 150 years.
