I think the 6 year etc is the time before they can start a challenge. Once started not sure there is a limit.

2001 - 2006. Thats a long time ago. Has this been rolling on and on or can they go as far back as they want?

HMRC defeats Reed in £158m temps' tax case :: Contractor UK

I just wonder if it might impact on umbrella. Certainly I think the travel and subsistence rules might just have got a bit muddier. I imagine there will be an appeal though.
