I've never had an issue with their pdf forms.

It all seems pretty straight forward to me.

Got to wonder why anyone would bother paying someone for the filing service when all the heavy lifting has been done.

Is this a remnant of pre-internet filing?
We've had this once, it was someone who's previous accountant prepared the accounts then disappeared. It's also a possibility that they've done the accounts themselves but aren't happy or confident filing via HMRC & Companies House. The HMRC website isn't as clear and easy at it could be, and you need proper iXbrl software to file yourself any other way.

Pre-internet was easy, you just put them in the post!

A filing service is usually your accountant simply filing the accounts at companies house and HMRC without them actually preparing the figures. They are simply offering a service to file them. The accounts in this scenario are prepared by someone else (old accountant or yourself).

    Hope this helps
